Some Days Diabetes Wins

When I ask for donations and raise money for diabetes research, it’s usually done with a very outwardly focused lens. I’m usually thinking about my friends and family that have Type 1 and am doing my part to tell them “I’m with you.” I’m usually thinking about the younger generations that maybe have a chance at a reversal or a cure. I’m not usually thinking about myself.

What I Listen to While Running

A lot of people have been asking me what I listen to on my runs so I decided I’d share the lists out. Just a note: As a general rule, I tend to not listen to anything newer than 1990. So if modern Top 40 is your jam, you may want to keep moving.

Am I A Runner Yet?

I’ve never been fast and sometimes I still have to walk for a quarter mile when we’re on a long run. I don’t particularly enjoy running and I still don’t know where I stand on the Nike vs. Adidas vs. Brooks debate, so can I really call myself a runner?

I’m running the NYC Marathon!

When I was in my very early 20s, I decided it would be a fun idea to have a list of 30 things I wanted to accomplish by my 30th birthday. Some were easily attainable (visit NYC during Christmas, go to a major league baseball game), while others seemed more monstrous (see a giraffe in the wild, complete a marathon). Unfortunately we haven’t booked our trip to Giraffe Manor yet, but I am excited / terrified to announce that the most physically daunting one is in the process of getting crossed off:
